Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lingaa’ gets ‘U’ certificate

Rajinikanth and Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Lingaa’ passed with ‘U’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is confirmed to hit the theatres on December 12.

The film is confirmed to release on 12 December as a birthday treat for Thalaivar fans. "#lingaa censor done .. "U" certificate :):):) 12-12-14 confirmed !!!! Can't wait for you to Rock the world this birthday Appa !!!!!!!," tweeted Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Madras High Court reserved the judgement of the film but today the decision was passed in favour of ‘Lingaa’. The film is made suitable to watch for all age groups.

The film will release in three languages, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

"'Lingaa' will release on Rajinikanth's birthday. The censors have passed it with 'U' certificate," film's director K.S. Ravi Kumar said in a statement.

Producer Rockline Venkatesh said ‘Lingaa’ will release in over 2,000 screens worldwide.

‘Lingaa’ starring Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty is Rajinikanth’s third film with Ravi Kumar after ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padayappa’. The film also marks Sonakshi Sinha's debut in any regional movie.

The music of ‘Lingaa’ is composed by music composer A.R Rahman and Rajinikanth will be seen in dual role.

‘Lingaa’ got into trouble after a man named KR Ravi Rathinam filed a petition in court claiming that the script of ‘Lingaa’ has stolen from his project ‘Mulla Vanam 999’, based on the Mullaperiyar dam.

Both Rajinikanth and director KS Ravikumar denied the allegations.
