Rajinikanth refuses Aamir Khan’s request to dub for ‘Dangal’ Tamil version
Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’ is undoubtedly a much-awaited film of the year. The sports drama will also be released in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions. Reportedly, Aamir approached megastar Rajinikanth with the request to dub for his character in the Tamil version of the film, but the ‘Kabali’ actor turn down the request.
"Aamir had screened the film for Rajinikanth sir and also requested him to dub for his character for the Tamil version of 'Dangal'. Although moved by the film, Rajini sir politely turned down the offer," a news agency quoted a source close to Rajinikanth as saying.
Rajinikanth has acted in several Hindi films, but he has never dubbed for any one. He had also collaborated with Aamir in the 1995 film ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’ which was inspired by Hollywood film ‘The Godfather’.
Interestingly, it is said that Aamir was the first actor to be approached for the role of the antagonist in Rajinikanth starrer ‘2.0’, the sequel of the south superstar’s 2010 blockbuster ‘Enthiran’ (Robot). The role eventually went to Akshay Kumar.
However, there doesn't seem to be any bad blood between the two actors, but Rajinikanth’s refusal to dub is a huge loss for his fans who worship him and desperately wait for his movies.
‘Dangal’ is a biopic of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters Geeta and Babita Kumari to become world-class wrestlers. Aamir portrays the role of Mahavir, while Fatima Sana sheikh and Sanya Malhotra enact the roles of Geeta and Babita respectively.
Diected by Nitish Tiwari, ‘Dangal’ is slated to hit screens on December 23.
