Rajinikanth gets notice from underworld don Haji Mastan’s foster son

Rajinikanth has received a notice from one Sundar Shekhar, who claims to be the son of underworld don Haji Mastan Mirza. The notice asks the Tamil superstar not to depict Haji Mastan as a ‘smuggler and an underworld don’ in his movie, a report in ANI stated on Saturday.

There are speculations that Rajinikanth’s upcoming project with ‘Kabali’ director Pa Ranjith is based on the life of the Mumbai underworld don, who lived between 1926 and 1994.

Late Haji Mastan Mirza, who hailed from Tamil Nadu was a businessman and founder of Bharatiya Minorities Suraksha Mahasangh. Sundar said that since Mastan was not convicted in any court for smuggling or underworld activities, it is not right to depict him as a don. However, he added that he would like to produce a biopic on Mastan.

“…You are depicting my god father and a well-known national political leader as a 'smuggler and underworld don', which is highly unacceptable and I strongly oppose such misrepresentation of my god father,” Sunder’s notice read.

He further added in the notice, “There is a huge political party behind him and all party workers are in a state of anger on such misrepresentation of him as a smuggler or underworld don and if any such attempt is made by you to produce any such film, then I shall be constrained to adopt legal proceedings and it is needless to say that the same shall be entirely at your risks as to costs and consequences.”

However, Sundar also stated, "If you are really interested in making films on the lifestyle of Late Shri Haji Mastan, even I am interested in making a biopic on my god father as I am a producer and a represented lifetime member of Indian Motion Picture Producer's Association."
