Rajinikant, Sonakshi begin ‘Lingaa’ Shoot

Hundreds of fans gathered in huge numbers at the Chamundi Hills in Mysore on Friday to get a glimpse of their favourite star Rajinikanth, who has been camping in the region to shoot for his upcoming film ‘Lingaa’.

The superstar looked fresh and young wearing the traditional white shirt and dhoti for the pooja organized before the beginning of the shoot. He appeared sporting a thick moustache and in a new hairstyle which is likely to be his looks for the movie.

It is believed that ‘Lingaa’ was launched on Friday, May 2, since Friday is generally considered a lucky day in the week and also the ‘Akshaya Trithiya’ fell on this day, which is considered the most auspicious day to begin a new project.

His leading ladies — Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty were not present at the pooja, however, producer Rockline Venkatesh and director K S Ravikumar were seen and so was Rajiniji’s friend and well-wisher, actor Ambareesh.

According to reports, the pooja or the mahurat of the movie was held at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore because a large portion of the shooting will be done at the Chamundi Hills as well as the Mysore Palace. According to the buzz doing the rounds, this involves the ‘period’ section of the film — that features Rajinikant and Sonakshi portraying the 40’s era, while the contemporary portions of the movie will be shot with Anushka Shetty.

Sources close to ‘Lingaa’ unit said that the present shooting of the film will be done in the next two days which includes Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha.

“Sonakshi will arrive in Mysore on Saturday and will begin shooting right away. Rajini is looking extremely fit and looked exactly like he did in movies like Raja Chinna Roja, that were shot two decades ago,” the source reportedly said.

Meanwhile, the media buzz is that the ‘Lingaa’ team has been denied permission to shoot inside Amba Vilas Palace, because it is a heritage site.

Although the rumours doing the rounds that they were denied to shoot at the Palace were not confirmed, the fact is that the superstar would be back on Monday to begin the final round of promotions for ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ that releases on next Friday.

Incidentally, less than a week before the release of his magnum opus ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, Rajinikanth has started working on his next project ‘Lingaa’. This is something new for the actor, because for the past one decade the superstar has been following the principle of taking at least a year’s gap between two movies.
