Rajesh Khanna’s grandson Aarav lights the pyre
Thousand of fans thronged the street to bid final farewell
to the original superstar of Bollywood. He was not alone in his final journey,
his fans, his family accompanied Rajesh Khanna. Rounded with flowers the actor
bade his final goodbye to his most cherished abode ‘Aashirwad’. The street was jam packed as Rajesh Khanna
moved from his bungalow Aashirwad in Carter Road in Mumbai towards Paramhans
crematorium in Vile Parle.
The procession began around 10:15 am on Thursday and took about half an hour to
reach the crematorium. His estranged wife Dimple Kapadia, daughter Rinki Khanna
and her husband Samir Saran, Akshay Kumar and his son Aarav was with Rajesh in
his final journey. His daughter Twinkle was not seen as she is in the advance
stage and doctors advised her rest. Akshay

son Aarav lit the pyre. "Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar assisted
him," the late superstar`s close friend Vijay Zaveri.
Despite downpour, thousands of fans gathered to pay their tribute to Rajesh
Khanna. Celebrities like Karan Johar,Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapoor, Karisma
Kapoor,Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were also present at the
crematorium. His last words are reported to have
been - "time up ho gaya, pack up."
Rajesh Khanna fondly called ‘Kaka’ died on Wednesday at his residence. He was battling for life since April and was in and out of hospital since then. He is the first original superstar of Bollywood. His charm and act was unmatchable. He ruled the silver screen in late 60’s and 70’s. He has 15 consecutive solo hits under his credit.
The superstar might have left but he will always be with all
of us through his evergreen movies.
