Rahul Raj denies Pratyusha’s pregnancy reports

There were speculations that late TV actress Pratyusha Bannerjee was pregnant and it was confirmed by doctors. The histopathology test reports of tissues taken from Pratyusha’s uterus, suggested that the actress was few weeks pregnant and might have aborted the foetus or had a miscarriage.

While the news shocked everyone, Pratyusha’s boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh on Tuesday refuted the pregnancy reports of the ‘Balika Vadhu’ actress, according to a report in DNA.

“It’s false. Pratyusha was not pregnant. Since she was not pregnant, there’s no question of abortion. everybody is saying that sources have confirmed her pregnancy, but why is nobody asking the doctor?" Rahul told when probed about his late girlfriend’s pregnancy.

Pratyusha committed suicide by hanging on April 1. The post-mortem report of her body revealed the presence of a thick whitish fluid in the uterus, which indicates early stages of pregnancy or infection. It was then sent to the forensic department of JJ Hospital for histopathological examination after which doctors confirmed that there was a pregnancy.

The actor-producer who had arrived at the Bangur Nagar Police station in connection with the suicide case told media that he himself was in a state of shock. "I have not been able to come to terms with the fact that she is no more. I still feel that she has gone to a friend's place and I should just call her back home," he told.

Rahul further claimed that Pratyusha’s parents are making false allegations against him under the influence of some people with vested interests. "I am still wondering why her family did not say anything in their first statement to the police. They are being influenced by some publicity freaks who are making her parents level allegations against me," he said.

Meanwhile, Pratyusha’s father Shankar Banerjee has complained to the Indian Medical Association urging action against the hospital treating Rahul for depression, saying the staff was allegedly protecting him.

“Rahul was admitted to the hospital under some pretext of illness and we are sure that there is a high-handed conspiracy between the management of the hospital and the accused,” the complaint read.
