‘Ragini MMS 2’ all set to cross 50 crore mark

‘Ragini MMS-2’, the first Bollywood adult horror-sex movie, performed more than expected at the box-office in its first weekend. After the initial stint, it was not sure whether the film would continue to see the soaring numbers during the weekdays as well. They were estimated to be stable but not too high following the ?24 crore worth of viewing the film over the weekend. With restricted audience watching the movie, everything from this point could only have better results.

According to reports, it was simply amazing to see the way this Ekta Kapoor production performed during the weekdays. The film now stands at ?40 crore in just a single week, which is simply superb.

As things stand now, the film is the fourth highest grosser of the year following the big hits such as ‘Jai Ho’, ‘Gunday’ and much applauded ‘Queen’.

It seems that the Sunny Leone starrer is all set to cross the ?50 crore mark now.

While the other releases of the week such as ‘Gang of Ghosts’, ‘Lakshmi’ and ‘Aankhon Dekhi’, did not have much to be happy about when ‘Ragini MMS-2’ was scoring in multiplexes and also at the single screens, but it was the ‘Queen’ wave that was riding high at multiplexes which blew other competitions away.

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Queen’ has crossed the half century mark at the country’s box-office by earning over ?50 crore in its 20 days run at the box-office.

Till now, Salman Khan’s ‘Jai Ho’ is the highest grosser film of the year with ?116 crore after Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Gunday’ which grossed?78.60 crore.

At the same time Sunny’s thriller ‘Ragini MMS 2’ is doing wonderfully well and in spite of facing criticism from Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS), the film earned a good amount at the box-office.

According to reports, analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted, “#RaginiMMS2 Wed 3.55 cr. Total: ? 36.46 cr nett. India biz... Rock-steady on weekday.”

‘Ragini MMS 2’ has certainly turned out to be a profitable business for the makers, as it earned the production cost within only first three days of its release.

Critics expect ‘Ragini MMS 2’ to continue with its performance in the market in the coming week since there are no other big releases. Three films are releasing this week which include ‘Dishkiyaoon’, ‘O Teri’ and ‘Youngistaan’, but none of them are expected to start on a big scale.
