Ragini Makkhar’s Katthak troupe wins India’s Got Talent 5

India’s got talent season 5 has finally got its winner after entertaining the audience for three months. Ragini Makkar's Katthak dance troupe Naadyog lifted the IGT 5 trophy. Raagini is a housewife and an ace Kathak teacher. She runs a dance institute called Naadyog and her institute has nearly 360 students. The institute was formed 25 years back.

Ragini is overwhelmed to win the trophy. "I had never expected that we will be able to make it finally. I was confident about our talent but the victory was unexpected. I made sure that we keep the rich tradition of Katthak alive with my innovative concepts. I thank my audience and husband for believing in me," Ragini told PTI.

The winner was awarded Rs 50 lakh, a car besides the trophy. They award was handed over to the winner by the special guests Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla who came to promote their film, ‘Gulaab Gang’. "The money would be spent on making a good dance institute for poor girls, who want to learn the dance form. Apart from teaching them dance, I also help them financially and personally," Ragini, who is a homemaker by profession, said.

Ragini also wants to choreograph for Bollywood. "I haven't watched any film in these 11 years. I was so much dedicated to my institute. If given a chance I would like to choreograph a Katthak piece for Karan (Johar) sir's film. I am a fan of his creativity," she added.  

The India’s Got Talent 5 winning group had women aged between 18 and 32.

India’s Got Talent 5 was judged by filmmaker Karan Johar, Malaika Arora Khan and Kirron Kher.

The ‘Naadyog’ troupe compete with other finalists like Funny Boys, Hassan Rizvi, Subhreet Kaur Ghumman, Ragini Makkhar and Naadyog Academy, Saei Jamshid, Anshu Kumar, Hargun Kaur, Beat Breakers, Rohit Jaiswal and Anusua Chowdhary to win the coveted trophy.
