Priyanka Chopra reveals facing racism in the West on 'Koffee with Karan 5'

Priyanka Chopra has become a global celebrity. The former Miss World has been away in the West for the better part of this year, shooting for her drama series ‘Quantico 2’ and her Hollywood debut ‘Baywatch’, as well as making several appearances on TV and other events. Despite her accomplishments, Priyanka was a target of racial attacks in the West.

The actress, who is currently in India for the winter break, revealed about her brush with racism on Karan Johar’s chat show ‘Koffee with Karan 5’, where she made a solo appearance this time.

A part of Priyanka and host Karan’s conversation on the popular show has been revealed. A DNA report quoted a source as saying, “When KJo asked if she (Priyanka) has faced racism, she shared that she did, but not in the studios. She said that it was at the airport when she was sitting in the lounge for first class passengers that she was a victim. One of the ground staff personnel was rude to her, and only after she argued that she was a valid first class passenger did he apologise.”

Priyanka also advised her fellow actors at home to pick roles with care in Hollywood. “Priyanka said that whoever goes to Hollywood after her should be careful about the kind of roles they do,” the source added.

Priyanka returned to Mumbai last Sunday (Dec 18) and the next day itself she marked her presence at the Stardust Awards, where she was honoured with the title of the Global Icon of the Year. At the event, she also revealed about signing two Bollywood movies next year, one of them is said to be Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s project. She has also shot for the New Year special episode for ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

Priyanka will fly back to the US by the second week of January, 2017 to resume the shooting for ‘Quantico 2’.
