Priyanka Chopra injured on the set of Mary Kom biopic

Priyanka Chopra is sweating it out for Mary Kom biopic and she has gone extra mile to portray the character flawlessly. Priyanka steps into the role of ace boxer Mary Kom from Manipur and bring out the real character alive on-screen. In performing a boxing scene, Priyanka got serious injury under her eyes and the film director Omung Kumar stalled the shooting for an hour.

She sustained an injury while shooting at Dharmshala when a boxer from North-East hit her hard due to mismatched timings. When he hit Priyanka, the actress fell down. Fortunately, the injury was not too serious and the shooting restarted after an hour.

"Priyanka was filming a boxing scene with an actor from the North-East. She fell on the floor due to the impact. She got the shot spot on, so director Oomung Kumar decided to retain it. The cut mark that you will eventually see on screen under her eye is real but we did touch it up with makeup to make it look deeper," says Uday Shirale, who has been working on Priyanka's look.

The makeup artiste denies the rumours that Priyanka has used prosthetic make-up throughout the film. "The prosthetics haven't taken me longer than an hour. Mostly, its regular make-up and she'd be ready in 20 minutes flat," he says.

The actress, who recently wrapped up the film shooting, said that it is the toughest film she has shot so far. , “It’s been harder than the hardest..kudos to the crew for keeping it tog.. All good things come to an end.”

Priyanka Chopra said she found shooting for the movie ‘inspiring’. She had tweeted, “Inspiring to do every scene… It’s been so tumultuous yet wonderful.” The film which is directed by Umang Kumar is the story of the rise of Mary Kom. Priyanka had said, “MaryKom is the story of every woman who wants to be larger than she is meant to be.”
