Priyanka Chopra bags her next Hollywood project after ‘Baywatch’

There is no stopping for Priyanka Chopra! Her Hollywood debut film ‘Baywatch’ is yet to hit screens, but the actress seems to have already bagged her next project in the West. Priyanka has apparently been roped in to feature in upcoming film ‘A Kid Like Jake’.

The film, to be directed by Howard Silas, also stars Oscar-nominated actor Octavia Spencer, Claire Danes and Jim Parsons. The movie is an adaptation of Daniel Pearle's celebrated play of the same name. While Claire Danes and Jim Parsons will play Alex and Greg, a Brooklyn couple trying to get their four-year-old son Jake into a top private school in New York, Priyanka will essay the role of the couple's friend and a single mother Amal, according to a report in Hollywood entertainment publication Deadline.

The film’s producer Paul Bernon confirmed the news on Twitter. Bernon posted the Deadline report on his timeline and wrote, "I am producing this & am so excited to work with Jim, Claire, @octaviaspencer @priyankachopra @michaelaWat!"

Talking about the project, director Howard told the publication, “We live in a world that cherishes a child’s uniqueness while paradoxically punishing difference. I’m interested in the ways that, even when acting out of love, people can do harm when confronted with the fear of the uncontrollable. How does a parent balance those intense pressures? These tensions fascinate me both as a filmmaker and as someone with intimate knowledge of our culture’s fixation on policing gender.”

The film will begin shooting in New York later this year.

Meanwhile, Priyanka's ‘Baywatch’, directed by Seth Gordon and also starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach among others, is set to release on May 25.
