Priyadarshan, Lissy end their divorce battle amicably


Ending a long legal tussle, reknowned filmmaker Priyadarshan and his actor wife Lissy have finally decide to make and amicable settlement and apply for a mutual consent divorce. The estranged couple on Wednesday arrived at a ‘memorandum of compromise in the Madras High Court.

Justice K.K. Sasidharan directed the couple to appear before him and discuss the terms of settlement. The director and the former Malayalam actress were facing criminal and civil lawsuits moved against each other.

Lissy agreed to withdraw the allegations of domestic violence against Priyadarshan in the pending divorce petition. The veteran filmmaker also promised to take back the civil suit against her praying for a decree declaring that he is the absolute owner of a couple of a preview theatre.

He agreed to transfer the ownership of the preview theatre Four Frame Entertainment and Dubbing to Lissy, and she will release her rights over Four Frames Mixing Studio, according to a report in a daily.

The couple has also come to a settlement with regard to the gold ornaments that they have bought over the time. Accordingly, all the gold jewellery will stay in the possession of Lissy and she has to give a portion of it to their daughter during her wedding.

Earlier, Priyadarshan and Lissy appeared before the court on January 12 and ruled out reconciliation. The Judge then asked them to arrive at a modality to part on friendly terms. Both agreed and suggested the terms and discussed pending issues and modalities of the settlement through their counsels.

After arriving at an amicable settlement, both appeared before the judge on January 28 and agreed to the proposal to resolve the dispute, following which the memorandum of compromise was drafted. 

The couple parted ways after 24 years of their marriage and Lissy filed for a divorce at Chennai family court on December 1, 2014.
