<a href='//www.bollywoodmantra.com/celebrity/preity-zinta/' title='Preity Zinta' class='article_display_tag' data-id='preity-zinta' id='article_tag_data_preity-zinta' style='display: inline-block;'><strong>Preity Zinta</strong></a>It's a known fact that Preity Zinta has turned columnist for BBC. The actress, who has delivered two hits in the recent past in KOI… MIL GAYA and KAL HO NAA HO, now joins a heavyweight line up of some of South Asia's most respected commentators, including...
...best-selling author Ahmed Rashid, renowned economist Kaushik Basu and leading sports writer Rohit Brijnath.

Though Preity's decision to pen her thoughts for the website [www.bbcnews.com/southasia] are well known by now, not many are aware of the topic she has chosen to write on. Excerpts:

“This year I am looking forward to my film LAKSHYA [Aim], which releases mid-2004. It is based on the India-Pakistan fighting in Kargil, Kashmir in 1999. LAKSHYA is close to my heart because it shows how young people experience and are affected by war. It's not just about people screaming and killing each other.

“I believe people blend better than governments anyway. My sister-in-law is half-American and half-Pakistani. We don't look at boundaries. LAKSHYA also exemplifies new Bollywood. It was the toughest film of my career.”

Not many are aware that Preity will donate her fee as a columnist to a charity she supports in Punjab. Let's hope the actress leaves a mark in this new role [of a columnist] as well!
