Pray for me so that I can come out soon, Sanjay Dutt

Actor Sanjay Dutt, who was availing leave for past 30 days, has returned to Pune jail after his parole ended.

Sanjay Dutt was granted parole on 1st October. He was granted parole on medical grounds. He was initially granted a parole of 14 days. However, on 14th he applied for an extension. He was granted two more weeks of leave. Today finally his leave expired and he returned to Pune Yerwada Jail where the actor is serving remaining 42 months of his sentence.

While returning to jail, Sanjay Dutt thanked the media for respecting his privacy during the time of his stay out of the jail. His wife Maanyata Dutt had accompanied him to the gate of the jail. Sanjay Dutt told media that his condition has improved but still he has pain in his legs. He said, “I still have a problem in my legs but it is a bit better than before. Pray for me so that I can come out soon. Happy Diwali to all.”

Sanjay Dutt was punished after he was found guilty of illegally possessing arms. The arms found at his place were from the same consignment which was later used in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He was sentenced for five years. Since he had earlier served 18 months of imprisonment, this time Sanjay Dutt is serving the remaining 42 months of imprisonment. He has been in jail since 16thMay 2013.

At the Yerwada jail, Sanjay Dutt is just like any other convict. He carries off his regular routine like other convicts. As a part of routine activity, Sanjay Dutt has been assigned the task of making paper bags. He was first made to learn the art of paper bags making at a workshop. Later he was assigned the task. Every day he prepares a few bags which are then sold through an NGO. Sanjay Dutt also receives daily wages for the task performed by him. Earlier the actor had requested for some kind of work which required physical activity. Physical activity would have kept the actor fit. But jail officials told that for carrying any physical task, Sanjay Dutt had to go to some other location on a daily basis which was not advisable looking at his security. So, he was asked to settle down with paper bags making.

Sanjay Dutt will celebrate Diwali with jail inmates.
