Pratyusha Banerjee case: Rahul Raj Singh forced her into prostitution?

Fresh details have emerged in the Pratyusha Banerjee death case, after the details of her last telephonic conversation with boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, came to the fore.

The transcript of the phone call was made available to Mumbai Mirror by advocate Neeraj Gupta, who is representing Pratyusha’s parents Soma and Shankar Banerjee in the case.

Giving details of the three-minute telephonic conversation, Gupta has alleged that Rahul forced Pratyusha into prostitution.

In the transcript, the ‘Balika Vadhu’ actress is recorded as saying, "I had not come here to sell myself... I had come here to act... to work. And where are you putting me today? Rahul, you have no idea how bad I am feeling right now." In the later part of the transcript, Pratyusha is recorded as having told Rahul, "...You are selfish... you are spoiling my name. People are talking about me..."

Gupta told the daily, "This conversation happened between Rahul and Partyusha just before her death. In this conversation, it is very clear that she was forced into prostitution by Rahul, as later on in the same phone call she has used the word 'prostitution'."

Pratyusha was found hanging by the ceiling fan in her Goregaon apartment in Mumbai on April 1. Her boyfriend Rahul, who is currently out on bail, has been accused of abetting her suicide. Rahul has, however, said that the transcripts do not reveal anything that is not known. He said that their last conversation was about an upset Pratyusha complaining that her parents wanted her “to earn money anyhow.”

Advocate Gupta is planning to file an application for re-investigation into the death of Pratyusha.
