Pratyusha Banerjee of ‘Balika Vadhu’ commits suicide

Pratyusha Banerjee, who enacted the role of Anandi in the popular soap, 'Balika Vadhu' committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her Mumbai house on Friday morning. She was rushed to Mumbai Kokilaben hospital where the 24-year-old actress was declared dead.

Jamshedpur-born actress’s death shocked the telly world. After playing the pivotal role in ‘Balika Vadhu’, Pratyusha participated in the popular reality show, ‘Bigg Boss 7’ and lately she played negative role in ‘Sasural Simar Ka’.

Off late, Pratyusha also appeared on ‘Power Couple’ with her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh and recently crack in their relationship surfaced on net. It is also speculated that the recent break-up with Rahul drove Pratyusha to end her life.

In January this year, Pratyusha lodged police complaint that she had been molested by some men dressed as police personnel.

In 2013, Banerjee hit the headlines when she filed an FIR against her ex-boyfriend Makrand Malhotra.

Her friend, actress Kamya Punjabi was uncontrollable on hearing the news, she told DNA, "I am not in the right frame of mind."

Mumbai Police spokesperson Dhananjay Kulkarni said they have received a report on the actress' death from the hospital and that the police will now be investigating the matter.
