Prakash Raj gripped in controversy for appearing in demeaning ad

South Indian film industry’s renowned actor Prakash Raj created controversy for lending his face to an advertisement which allegedly degraded women by referring that a girl of marriageable age was a source of tension. The ad in question was that of jewellery brand KFJ Gold.

The advertisement did not go down well with people who criticised the actor as well as the jewellery brand.

He posted, “#kfj gold ad.With due respect to the concerns of all who have taken offence. I would like to state that it was not the intention. It is aimed at the mindset of people who think girl child is "tension". The ad clearly states it is the rate of gold u gift ..not the girl.”

“I respect everyone who have questioned me.. And I promise it was not intended. Hope you see it in the context of its expression .. Thank you,” Prakash wrote.
