Post 'Bigg Boss 7' win, Gauhar Khan eyes Bollywood

Saturday was a red letter day for actress- turned- model Gauhar Khan. After fierce competition between Sangram Singh, Tanishaa Mukherji, Ajaz Khan and Gauhar, Gauhar emerged the winner for the coveted Bigg Boss 7 award. She took home the trophy and the cash prize award of Rs. 50 lakh. Now the next on her agenda is attaining superstardom. Known for item performances in movies like ‘Ishaqzaade’ and acclaimed for her performance as the receptionist in ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’, she now aspires to be a superstar.

Gauhar said, ‘I wish this platform helps me gain superstardom. There is a very different feeling when people start calling you a superstar. And that’s what I want.’

Gauhar’s showbiz career started as a model when she won the Miss India International title in 2002. Widely acclaimed for her dance performance, she was seen on the dance reality show, ‘Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa’ and a reality show on UTV Bindaas, ‘Khan Sisters’ with her sister, Nigaar Khan.

On winning the ‘Bigg Boss 7’ trophy she was thrilled and said ‘It’s a dream come true. I feel lucky, honoured and happy to have won the show. The 15 weeks of hard work paid off and I feel on the seventh heaven right now.’ Gauhar Khan has been one of the strongest contestants on the show, specially noted for holding her own even in times of turmoil in the House. She has handled many of the quarrels that have broken out, although it has been alleged that she engineered some of them. Her national television confession of love for her now boyfriend, evicted contestant Kushal Tandon made her win hearts and votes although there was a doubtful moment when she walked out of the House along with Kushal when he was evicted from the House, returning later to continue the competition.

The grand finale of the event was held at Lonavala, a hill station close to Mumbai and where the ‘Big Boss House’ was put up. It was an extravagant affair with performances by the contestants and host Salman Khan. Gauhar and Kushal danced to ‘Tere mere beech mein kya hai’ from the film ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. ‘Bigg Boss 7’ is the fouth consecutive time that a woman has emerged the winner on the reality show, after Shweta Tiwari, Juhi Parmar and Urvashi Dholakia. She will be starring in an upcoming film ‘Fever’ next as lead opposite Rajeev Khadelwal.
