‘Phantom’ rakes in Rs 8.45 crore on its opening day


Kabir Khan’s ‘Phantom’, starring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif mints in Rs 8.45 crore on its opening day. Released a day before ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the film opened with mixed review and moderate audience.

“We are overwhelmed with the response. It’s an amazing beginning,” producer Sajid Nadiadwala said in a statement.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about ‘Phantom’ business #Phantom Fri ? 8.46 cr. India biz... Biz picked up in evening/night shows. It is too early to predict the film’s fate because the weekend collection might change the number. Possibility is high that ‘Phantom’ will show a big jump over the weekend.

‘Phantom’ made at a whopping budget of Rs 55 crore is based on S Hussain Zaidi’s bestseller Mumbai Avengers. In the film, Saif and Katrina play undercover agents who are assigned with the task of to eliminate the mastermind of Mumbai's 26/11 attacks.

‘Phantom’ fails to join the race of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ first day collection of Rs 27 crore and Akshay Kumar's ‘Brothers’ which gathered Rs 15.20 crore on its opening day.
