Peshawar cousins await Shahrukh Khan's arrival
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's cousins are eagerly awaiting his arrival to his ancestral home in Peshawar.
The Dawn quoted Khan's first cousin Mansoor Ahmad as saying that Shahrukh has personally wished to visit Peshawar even if he came to Pakistan for just a single day, adding that Shah Rukh loved Peshawar because he had his roots here and liked to use things belonging to the city.
"He wishes to visit Peshawar and has conveyed a message to us that if he visited Pakistan even for a single day, he will come to his ancestral city," the paper quoted Ahmed as saying.
He said that Shah Rukh had not only made a name for himself, in the world of cinema, but also done something for which the entire family is proud of.
"We are proud of Mr Khan who has become a celebrity in the cine world and are keenly waiting for his visit to Peshawar to meet him," he added.
He said that Shah Rukh has already visited Peshawar twice, first in 1978 when he was a schoolboy and later in 1980, when he stayed in the city for one month.
"On reaching Mumbai, Shah Rukh warmly received me and his response was very cordial. During my stay, Shah Rukh used to ask searching questions about his paternal family members. I am proud of my cousin and have named my child after him. Shah Rukh has given us pride and recognition," said Ahmed's sister Noor Jehan.
As per the report, Shahrukh's father Taj Mohammed was the younger brother of Ahmed's father, Ghulam Mohammad alias Gama.
Interestingly, Ahmed still lives in the ancestral house in Shah Wali Qatal near the historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar in the city's interior, where Shahrukh's father lived before moving to Delhi.
