Parineeti says she will go back to banking if acting fails

In the Bollywood industry, it does not take long for fortunes to turn from good to bad. At one moment you are on a high and in the next, you are struggling. It looks like upcoming star Parineeti Chopra never forgets this harsh truth.  Despite just starting her film career 3 years ago, she already has a backup plan in her mind if her films do not become successful.

Recently in an interview she has commented, “I have a backup plan and I think everyone should have one. The day when my films turn out to be flop, I will go back to banking. To run my house, banking is the safe option for me.” Not everyone is aware of the fact that Parineeti Chopra’s original career choice was investment banking. She has a triple honors degree (in finance, economics and banking) from the reputed Manchester Business School.

But on the wake of economic recession in 2009 she came back to India and started living with her cousin, Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra. It was Priyanka who first took her to Yash Raj Films studio but not as an actor. Parineeti joined the production company as a public-relations consultant. It is ironical that initially she was not at all fond of the acting profession. But while working there, her perspective changed and her interest in acting grew. She eventually made her acting debut in 2011 with a character role in the film, ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.’

Parineeti said during the interview, “There are very few people who are lucky and don’t struggle much to get into films. If one has interest (in acting) then one must try, but should also have a backup plan because film industry is very unpredictable.” She also informed that producer Aditya Chopra and director Manish Sharma are her mentors and she often consults them regarding her projects. She said,   “Manish has been my mentor. He is the one who spotted me and he is the reason I am an actress and then Aditya Chopra. Manish and Adi are two people, who I ask for suggestions and opinions.”

After receiving acclaim for her performance in ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, Parineeti will be seen next in films like ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’ opposite Aditya Roy Kapoor and ‘Kill Dil’ with Ranveer Singh. She also making her TV debut with the new season of ‘India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj’ on ZEE TV. She and fellow actor Ayushmann Khurrana will play mentors to acting aspirants in the show.
