Pak actor Ali Zafar's role snipped off from 'Dear Zindagi'
Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar, was a part of the ensemble cast of Gauri Shinde’s directorial ‘Dear Zindagi’, is no longer a part of the film. His role as one of the romantic partners of Alia Bhatt in the film, has been scrapped.
Following the fracas around the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ as it features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, ‘Dear Zindagi’ co-producers Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, who is also starring in the film, have decided to play it safe and not get into any further controversies, as per a report in Mumbai Mirror.
Since the film is releasing in a month, there is no time to reshoot Ali’s portions, and hence, it was thought better to do away with his part. This means that Alia will get to romance one less person.
Earlier, the makers decided not to carry the ‘Tere Bin Laden’ actor’s scenes in the trailer to avoid unwanted trouble, but later decided against releasing a trailer at all. Instead, the film will unveil four brief teasers as a part of its promotions, two of which have already been released.
Besides Shah Rukh and Alia, ‘Dear Zindagi’ also stars Angad Bedi, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor. The film is scheduled to release on November 25.
Meanwhile, 0Raj Thackrey-led MNS has agreed not to oppose the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, ‘Dear Zindagi’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’, which stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, as the films were already shot before the Uri attacks, which triggered the ban on Pakistani actors. The decision came last week after their meeting with Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Film & Television Producers Guild of India president Mukesh Bhatt and filmmaker Karan Johar.
