Padma Awards for Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi

Late superstar of Bollywood Rajesh Khanna, will receive India's third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan. Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore was a hit jodi in the 70’s. They starred in movies ‘Aradhana’ and ‘Amar Prem’. Rajesh Khanna died on July 18, 2012 will receive the award posthumously. Sharmila Tagore will receive Padma Bhushan.

As per reports, Sridevi will also receive the award for her comeback movie ‘English Vinglish’. The name of the awardees will be announced officially by PM Manmohan Singh’s permission on the eve of Republic Day.

The selection committee member this year includes actress Ratna Pathak Shah, scientist Anil Kakodkar and home secretary R K Singh, among others.

Sholay's director Ramesh Sippy and singer Kailash Kher will be honored this year. Awardees' names would be declared today after PM Manmohan Singh's approval. 

The Sports Ministry has recommended the names of wrestler Sushil Kumar and cricketer Rahul Dravid for the Padma Bhushan. Bronze medalist winner Boxer Mary Kom is also recommended for the award.
