‘Pad Man’ moves to Feb 9, Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ gets solo release

Akshay Kumar called up a press conference at his house Prime Beach and declared that he and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have jointly decided to avert the clash of ‘Pad Man’ and ‘Padmaavat’. Now, Bhansali’s periodic drama will have a solo release on January 25 while Akshay Kumar’s ‘Pad Man’ will see the light of the day on February 9.

Bhansali requested Akshay to compromise and he readily accepted. During the media meet, the Khiladi Kumar said that he and the production house decided to push back the release date of ‘Pad Man’ as Bhansali’s need was more than theirs. Sanjay Leela Bhansali came before the media and took a seat beside Akshay and thanked him with folded hands.

“Yeh date (Jan 25) inki thi, when we requested Akshay to let us have Jan 25 for Padmavati, he didn’t take more than two minutes, to honour my request. I will be very grateful to him for life,” said Bhansali.

Akshay Kumar said, “They (Team Padmaavat) have a reason to release their film ASAP! Also, I understand a lot is at stake for him (Bhansali). His need to release on this date, is more than my need. He is a dear friend of mine, I respect him a lot. This is the least I could do for him.”

This decision has come as a big relief to distributors and exhibitors who were very much worried about the two movies business.
