Oscars pay tribute to Sridevi, Shashi Kapoor

The Academy awards paid tribute to late legendary actors Shashi Kapoor and Sridevi at the Oscar 2018 for their contribution to the world of cinema. Hollywood stars like James Bond star Roger Moore, Mary Goldberg and Johan Johansson, John Heard and Sam Shephard were also remembered on this occasion. During the 'Memoriam' montage, American rock band Pearl Jam's lead vocalist Eddie Vedder performed Tom Petty’s Room At The Top.

Shashi Kapoor died last year in December. He was 79 and had been confined to wheelchair for years. While Sridevi, 54, died of accidental drowning on 24th February, 2018.

Though Sridevi did not work in Hollywood movies, she was a well-known Bollywood actress. But Shahsi Kapoor’s story was altogether different. He starred in several Merchant-Ivory films of the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties, among them The Householder, Shakespeare Wallah and Heat And Dust. One of his last films, 1993's In Custody, was also a Merchant-Ivory production.
