Opening day box-office collection of ‘Shamitabh’

Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush starrer ‘Shamitabh’ starts off slow at the opening day. The advance booking for the first day, first show of the movie was opened on Monday but there was no rush, considering it is Big B and Balli’s third collaboration after ‘Paa’ and ‘Cheeni Kum’. The film had a dismal start at the box-office on the first day. Overall, ‘Shamitabh’ had a low start at the box-office with mixed reviews from critics.

The occupancy was low and the reason might be it was working Friday. The film is expected to pull off crowd in the weekend. Rajkumar Hirani, Gauri Shinde, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Anurag Basu played a cameo in the film. The film marked the debut venture of Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara. The film also features evergreen beauty Rekha in a prominent role.

"We are extremely excited to have such great talent on board the film ...It's a huge honor for us that they agreed to be part of Shamitabh," R.Balki told.

The film registered an opening day collection of 40%. Since it is a solo release, the collection is expected to increase in the coming days. The only competition the film will face is with last week release, ‘Baby’, which is still dominating many threatres. The only hope ‘Shamitabh’ to do well at the box-office is positive word of mouth.

‘Shamitabh’ revolves around two individual or actors, who comes together for a film, but drifted apart when their ego clashes.
