Amitabh Bachchan, Pikua-padukone/' title='Deepika Padukone' class='article_display_tag' data-id='deepika-padukone' id='article_tag_data_deepika-padukone' style='display: inline-block;'>Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Piku’ opened with mixed reviews and the film did not open with a bang. The film had a dull start in many places of India and registered an opening day occupancy of only 40% which is very low compared to last week release Akshay Kumar starrer, ‘Gabbar Is Back’ which opened with 75% occupancy.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar is Back’ is in its second week but still dominating many theatres. It is still going strong in many circuits of India and it is believed to have spoiled ‘Piku’.The action thriller already crossed 50 crore mark at the box-office.

‘Piku’ generated lots of hype due to the storyline and unique star casting and was very much talked about even during the film shooting.

‘Piku’ is a quirky roller coaster ride of a crazy father-daughter relationship essayed by Amitabh and Deepika, along with Irrfan in a pivotal author backed role.

Produced by N P Singh, Ronnie Lahiri and Sneha Rajani and directed by Shoojit Sircar, ‘Piku’ also stars Jishu Sengupta and Moushumi Chatterjee in the lead roles.

The music of the movie is composed by Anupam Roy while the lyrics are penned by Manoj Yadav  and Anupam Roy.

The film was produced by MSM motion pictures in association with Saraswati Entertainment and Rising Sun Films production.

The same day release Ram Kapoor and Sunny Leone starrer, ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ also received a poor response at the box-office. It had a dull opening of only around 5-10% in the first day at the box-office.
