Opening day box-office collection of ‘Lingaa’


After all hurdles, Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lingaa’ finally saw the light of the day on the schedule date, 12th December, 2014 on the occasion of Rajinikanth’s 64th birthday. The film opens with a bang in every states of South and it took Andra Pradesh and Telangana box-office with storm. ‘Lingaa’ was one of the highly anticipated and much awaited movies of 2014. The film saw an advance booking and most of the theatres saw house-full board. The trailer of the film arise huge curiosity.

The morning shows saw almost house-full. The Rajini mania drew immense crowd to the theatres since morning. Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty starrer, ‘Lingaa’ was released in good number of theates. Almost everywhere in both the states, ‘Lingaa’ registered 100% occupancy. There was spotted huge rush at the ticket-counted since the counter opened in the morning and tickets were booked in advance.

In many places, tickets were sold in black as high as Rs 1000. There were almost a scuffle for tickets scarcity and police has been deployed to control the crowd.  Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audience, ‘Lingaa’ witnessed house-full in theatres. The trade analyst estimated that the opening day collection of ‘Lingaa’ would not less than five crores plus but they are yet to know the exact number.

As per report, ‘Lingaa’ has not only done well in the South but all over India, the film was highly watched. Overseas also, Rajinikath’s ‘Lingaa’ witnessed a record breaking response. In Malaysia, Singapore and Dubai, the film was welcomed by Rajini’s fans. ‘Lingaa’  was released in 3000 screens worldwide. The film has been released in 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, 750+ in Andhra Pradesh, 215+ in Kerala, 375 in North India, 200 in Karnataka and 1000 overseas in multiple versions.

‘Lingaa’ directed by KS Ravikumar and produced by Rockline Venkatesh is expected to break all box-office records of the past Rajini’s movies and set a new box-office record.
