Box-office: Imran, Kangana's ‘Katti Batti’ off to a slow start

Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Katti Batti’ opened to mixed reviews. The movie was not so much praised by the critics and it is termed us 'old wine in a new bottle', 'boring' etc. However, with the absence of any big tickets this week, 'Katti Batti' might do magical at the box-office. Made on a budget of Rs 20 Crores, the film was released in over 2200 screens.

Directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Sidharth Roy Kapoor, ‘Katti Batti’ had a slow start at the box-office with 15% – 20% occupancy rate on an average. The film was well promoted by the lead stars and it would definitely work in favour of the film. The release date of ‘Katti Batti’ also clashed with Ganesh Chaturthi and therefore it has a weekend advantage.

‘Katti Batti’ is an anti-love story starring Imran Khan as Madhav Kabra (Maddy) & Kangana Ranaut as Payal. Maddy is an architect who is in love with Payal because of her attitude towards life. The story revolves around Maddy & Payal's live-in relationship for 5 years and until a sudden turn of events when Payal leaves Maddy mid-way.

The film’s success is very important for Imran Khan who did not have a good track record but Kangana is on the safe side due to to back to back hits, ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. Positive words of mouth depends a lots for the film's success.
