Opening day box-office collection of ‘Finding Fanny’


Ever since ‘Finding Fanny’ was announced there has been a lot of buzz and curiosity among the audience. Released on Friday, the film directed by Homi Adajania had a wonderful cast of Deepika Padukone, and followed by Arjun Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor.

Censor board raised objection to ‘virgin’ word in the film and mostly made to cater the youths. According to trade expert, ‘Finding Fanny’ is expected to make a Box Office collection of around Rs 7 to 8 crores in the opening day.

‘Finding Fanny’ revolves around five oddball characters, who are in search of ‘Fanny’- Naseeruddin Shah’s character’s first love. The special screening of the film gets positive response from the celebrities. The unique theme would have some difficulties to attract the Indian audience. Moreover, the film would also receive a tough competition from Bipasha Basu starrer, ‘Creature 3D’ released on the same day.

‘Finding Fanny’ had a considerably good opening in metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore compared to small cities and towns. The film is expected to do well in multiplexes than single theatres.

The morning shows had lower occupancy but the number considerable increased in the evening shows. Released in 900 screens, the film opened to 40-45 percent. Producer Dinesh Vijan says, “We are overwhelmed with response Finding Fanny is getting. The reviews are fantastic and we’ve opening well this morning, the evening shows are all also filling up. We are very thankful for support the film has got from the industry. We are looking at a good first day and hopefully a fantastic week end.”
