Opening day box-office collection of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’

Zoya Akhtar’s multi-starrer ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ starts off with a bang. Released around 2300 screens, the film registered opening day occupancy of 25-30% at the box-office. Speaking about a Punjabi dysfunctional family on a cruise ship, the film has done amazing business at multiplexes compared to single theatres.

Opened with rave review and good response from audience, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ mints in Rs 9 to 10.5 crore on its opening day.

With so many A-lister stars in on film, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah, audience is sure to storm theatres. Though DDD had a normal Friday, the numbers are expected to bounce on Saturday and Sunday. The film is doing astoundingly good in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon.

In the international market, the film is reportedly doing good business. It had a great start in UAE. At UAE ticker counter, DDD collected about $225,000, which is higher compared to ‘Tanu Weds Manu Retuns’ first day collection.

Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ earned the highest opening day collection total of 2015 i.e., approximately $150,000 but ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ beats TWMR record.

According to trade analysts, DDD will be the first film in 2015 to have cross $1 million mark in Gulf region this year.

The well promoted movie directed by Zoya, DDD features an ensemble cast, including Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka, Ranveer, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar and Rahul Bose in pivotal roles.

Bollywood gave thumps up to ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. The urbane story, ensemble star cast, interesting plot line, chartbuster music is the high points of the film.
