Opening day box-office collection of ‘Badlapur’

Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Badlapur’ opened with a positive reviews from critics. The performance of Varun and Nawazuddin Siddhiqui was appreciated and accolades are pouring in from every corner for the twisted storyline and stupendous performance of the lead stars. Sriram Raghavan’s dark eddy thriller, ‘Badlapur’ has registered opening day occupancy of 40-45% in the morning shows. The evening shows had a little growth.

‘Badlapur’ is based on a story of a man Raghu, played by Varun Dhawan who takes revenge of his wife’s murder, played by Yami Gautam. Nawauddin Siddhiqui plays the killer, Liak. Despite rave reviews, the film starts off on a slow note and it is expected that since positive response are pouring in from every corner, the film would definitely craete a milestone at the box-office. Released in around 1700 screens approximately across India on Friday, ‘Badlapur’ is expected to do good business at the evening and night shows.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "The opening is good and the silver lining is the terrific word of mouth.  I genuinely feel that the strong word of mouth will translate into box office numbers. Hopefully, the dry spell at Bollywood box office should end with Badlapur”.

"#Badlapur - UAE: Thu approx AED 360,000 [? 61.02 lacs]. Good start," trade analysts Taran Adarsh tweeted.

Made on a low budget of Rs 25 crore, it is expected that the film would not only cover the production budget but would go a long way.

‘Badlapur’ is expected to do a good business in India as well as in the overseas. "It is being said that the film has cost Rs. 50 crores to the makers (Eros and Dinesh Vijan). This is sheer nonsense and doesn't carry any basis whatsoever. The film has been made at around Rs. 16 crores with Rs. 9 crores set aside for P&A (Print and Advertising). This comes to around Rs. 25 crores, which is just perfect for a film like Badlapur which is commercial in its own way," a well-placed source informed.

“Badlapur is definitely one of the best thrillers and the most engaging film of this year. The film has opened well at cinepolis and footfalls are increasing with positive word of mouth”, says Mayank Shroff, National Manager, Programming & Film Marketing, Cinepolis

“Badlapur has opened very well across INOX cinemas. It will further improve over the weekend as film is carrying very strong Word of mouth and positive reviews. Must watch for Varun and Nawazuddin's spectacular performances” says Rajender Singh, VP Programming & Distribution, Inox.

Produced by Eros International and Maddock Films, 'Badlapur' is on the way to create a new box-office record.
