Opening day box-office collection of ‘ABCD 2’

Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘ABCD 2’, directed by famous choreographer Remo D’souza opened with mixed reviews but the film is expected to do good business at the box-office. The sequel to 2013movie 'ABCD' registered a good occupancy in the morning and evening shows. The film starts off well in north India region, especially Delhi, NCR, Gujarat and Jaipur circuits.

However, occupancy in Mumbai is bit affected due to heavy rainfall and water logging in various areas on Friday.

"#SOTY, #MainTeraHero, #HSKD, #Badlapur [all Hits], #ABCD2 [Terrific start], Varun Dhawan cements his status as a consistently bankable star," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film starts off well in the Gulf region by minting in approximately Rs 86 lakh on opening day.

"#ABCD2 has a SUPER-STRONG start in India... Has a FAB start in UAE-GCC too. Collects AED 496,000 [? 86.16 lacs] on Thu," Adarsh added.

According to box-office record, the opening day box-office collection of ‘ABCD 2’ is ahead of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Gabbar Is Back’. The occupancy of ‘ABCD 2’ is 50 percent, defeating the opening day occupancy of the highest grosser of 2015, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, which registered approximately 30-40 percent occupancy.

Directed by Remo and featuring Prabhu Deva, Dharmesh Yelande, Lauren Gottlieb, Raghav Juyal, Tisca Chopra and Punit Pathak , ‘ABCD 2’ is about struggling choreographers who made it big at the international platform.

Trade analysts are optimistic that the 3D movie ‘ABCD 2’ produced by Siddarth Roy Kapur and presenting under the banner Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and music scored by the duo Sachin-Jigar will perform well at the box-office and create a new record.
