One dies trying to get a glimpse of Shah Rukh at Vadodra station
In a tragic incident, one person died when he went to catch a glimpse of superstar Shah Rukh Khan at Vadodra railway station, who was travelling from Mumbai to Delhi to promote his soon-to-release film ‘Raees’. Two police personnel were also injured in the incident last night.
Shah Rukh boarded the ‘Raees’ special August Kranti Express from Mumbai and halted at Vadodra station at around 10.30 pm. A huge crowd of the ‘Dilwale’ actor’s fans had gathered at the platform, and went berserk as soon as the train arrived.
In the ensuing stampede, social activist Farid Khan Pathan of Hatikhana area of the city, suffered a cardiac arrest and fell unconscious at the platform. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, reported ABP news. Farid, along with his wife and daughter, had come to catch a glimpse of Shah Rukh, as the family was an avid fan of the actor.
The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd, during which some persons sustained minor wounds on their head and face. Two constables of the Railway Police also collapsed during the chaos and are undergoing treatment. They are said to be out of danger.
Cricketer brothers Irrfan and Yusuf Pathan were also at the station to meet Shah Rukh.
Shah Rukh is accompanied by ‘Raees’ director Rahul Dholakia, producer Riteish Sidhwani, Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber, among others. The train journey started at 5 pm from Bombay Central and is scheduled to reach Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 10.55 am on Tuesday morning. In between, it halted at Surat Bharuch, Vadodra, Ratlam and Kota.
