‘OK Jaanu’ trailer: Aditya & Shraddha’s romance is endearing

The trailer of Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘OK Jaanu’ has been unveiled. The romantic drama is the official Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s 2015 Tamil blockbuster ‘O Kadhal Kanmani’ which starred Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menen in the lead roles.

Earlier today, Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions released a poster of the film announcing the trailer release at 11 am. 'OK Jaanu' is being pitched as 'a millenial love story'.

Aditya and Shraddha, who enthralled audience with their rain-soaked romance in ‘Ashiqui 2’ play the roles of Adi and Tara respectively, who have lofty dreams. Tara wants to study architecture in Paris, while Adi intends to go to the US to give “competition to (Mark) Zukerberg.”

The trailer begins with Naseeruddin Shah in conversation with Adi and Tara who are seeking a place to live in together, but they have no intention to marry as yet. But when Tara’s admission is confirmed in Paris and Adi prepares to leave for the US, the much-in-love couple find it difficult to part ways.

The trailer has several fun-filled, sweet and romantic moments between the lead pair as well as some tensed moments when the face the dilemma of choosing between love and career. The on-screen couple once again displays a sparkling chemistry. Naseeruddin is also seen advising Shraddha’s character to help her make the right choice. 

The two-and-half-minute trailer also has a background song in the vocals of music maestro A. R. Rahman, who has also composed the film’s songs, as well as that of the original Tamil version. Legendary lyricist-poet Gulzar has penned the songs. The director of the original film, Mani Ratnam has co-written the screenplay of the Hindi remake with Shaad Ali who has directed ‘OK Jaanu’.

The romantic drama is slated to hit screens on January 13, 2017.
