The case dates back to 2002 when Sanjay Dutt signed filmmaker Shakeel Noorani’s film 'Jaan Ki Baazi'. He was paid 50 lakh but Sanjay neither completed the shoot nor returned the fees. He turned up for the shoot only for two days.
When Noorani approached the court, the Bombay High Court had ordered to seize Dutt's property. Noorani then lodged a complaint with the Andheri court, alleging that he was getting threats from the underworld at Sanjay Dutt’s will.
When in 2013 Dutt refused to appear to the court, a non-bailable warrant was issued against him. But it got cancelled when he appeared in court.
Dutt then had to go to jail for 1993 Mumbai serial blast case and when he came out of jail, Noorani's advocate Neeraj Gupta moved a plea for his appearance in the court in February this year. He said "When Dutt is out of jail, he should attend the court. But he was not coming to court."
Apparently, Dutt is required to pay a sum of Rs 1 crore to Noorani.
