No one can match Madhuri’s steps: Alia reacts to Saroj Khan’s comments

Renowned choreographer Saroj Khan was upset with the makers of ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ for not inviting her for the song launch of ‘Tamma Tamma Again’, starring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. The track is a recreated version of the original song from 1990 film ‘Thanedaar’ featuring Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt and choreographed by Saroj Khan.

“Why should they call me? They don’t owe me anything? Maybe they felt since my assistant Madhuri Dixit was there, they didn’t need me around. You have to ask them why I wasn’t invited. I don’t mind not being invited….The new version of any of my dance numbers have to be of some standard for them to invite me to watch it,” Saroj Khan was quoted as saying.

The ace choreographer further said, “Varun is a good dancer and I know he will be able to do it (the steps) well, but I don’t know if Alia will be able to match up to Madhuri. In any case, it will be a feather in Alia’s cap.”

Now Alia has reacted to the controversy and replied on her comparison with Madhuri in the most sensible way. When asked about the choreographer being upset, the ‘Udta Punjab’ actress said, “She is absolutely right. No-one can match the steps of Madhuri. Whatever she said is right.. aise koi keh sakta hai ki main Picasso jaise paint kar sakti hun? (Can anyone paint something and then compare their work to Picasso?).”

However, Alia refrained from making any comments on why Saroj Khan wasn’t invited for the song launch.

Varun Dhawan had earlier apologised saying, “I would want to apologize to Saroj Ji, but it wasn’t in my hands. I didn’t have her number and I don’t know her personally. I had asked dad (David Dhawan) for her number, but by that time he had gone to London. I know this is not an excuse. I really take her as an inspiration and even her songs. I know Sanjay sir and Madhuri mam, so I took that lead.”
