No Ganesh Chaturthi celebration by the Kapoors

The 10-day long Ganesh Chaturthi begins today and from Shilpa Shetty to Sonu Sood, many Bollywood celebrities brought Ganpati idol home. But this year the Kapoor family won’t celebrate the festival. Their iconic RK studios was sold few months ago to Godrej properties and Randhir Kapoor confirmed that they won’t be celebration Ganpati festival as RK studios were sold and they don’t have a place to celebrate.

Confirming the same in an interview to Times Of India, Randhir Kapoor said, “That was the last Ganesh Chaturthi celebration for us. RK Studios hi nahi raha... to kahan karenge? (When there is no RK Studios, where will we organise it?) Papa (Raj Kapoor) started the tradition 70 years ago with a lot of love for the Trunk God, but now, we don’t have a place where we can hold the celebrations the way we did at RK Studios. We all love Bappa and have immense faith in him, but I guess, we can’t continue with the tradition anymore.”

Pictures showed that Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi and Sonu Sood brought Ganpati idol home. On Sunday afternoon, Shilpa Shetty gets a Ganesh idol from Chinchpokli, Mumbai. The actress was dressed in casual, long skirt with a pair of blue top and a contrasting stole.

Vivek Oberoi posed with Ganpati idol. He has selected a suitable Ganpati idol and is ready to take home.
