Nimrat Kaur to play a lawyer in Azharuddin’s biopic

The ‘Lunchbox’ actress Nimrat Kaur has been signed to play a lawyer in former cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin’s biopic. For the past few months, Nimrat has been in talks with the film producer Ekta Kapoor and finally she has given her nod.

"While the rest of the characters in the film are inspired by real-life people, this is a completely fictitious character. It's not a lengthy part but comes at a crucial juncture and the makers were looking for a strong actor to play the role. Nimrat's acceptance was important as the film goes on the floors on May 1," the source added.

Emraan Hashmi has been signed to play Azhar while Prachi Desai will play the cricketer’s first wife, Naureen. The search for the actress to play his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani is still on but none of them has been finalized. As per report, Kareena Kapoor was approached for the role but she turned down the offer.

After playing a frightening ISI agent in the Emmy Award-winning terrorism drama Homeland, Nimrat Kaur is all set to play a challenging role of a lawyer.
