Neil Nitin Mukesh starts ‘Indu Sarkar’ shoot; Bhandarkar shares teaser

After ‘Calendar Girls’, critically-acclaimed filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is back again with another realistic cinema titled ‘Indu Sarkar’. The film starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Kirti Kulhari of ‘Pink’ fame, began shooting today (December 19).

The 48-year-old director took to Twitter to share a teaser poster of his latest directorial venture, and sought support and blessings of fans. "Here is the first teaser poster of #InduSarkar. Shooting begins today. Always need your support & blessings," Bhandarkar tweeted.

The poster has black-and-white images of the India Gate and the Parliament house, and several armoured policemen and common people running haywire. The foreground has an image in red, of a lady with a raised hand-cuffed hand. The poster is very much striking and comes with the tag, 'Against the system... For the nation'.

Reportedly, the film is set in the backdrop of the 21-month long Emergency period from 1975 to 1977, when then prime minister Indira Gandhi unilaterally declared a state of emergency across the country. The plot revolves around a stammering poetess who rebels against the system.

Besides Neil and Kirti, Bengali actor Tota Roy Chowdhury, who was recently seen in Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani 2’, is also part of the film. Neil had previously worked in Bhandarkar’s 2009 film ‘Jail’.
