Neha Bajpayee to play Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata in biopic
Manoj Bajpayee’s wife Neha Bajpayee is returning to silver screen after a long hiatus. She will play Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata in his biopic. Neha, who was last seen in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Acid Factory’ nine years ago has been approached to play Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata Dutt.
Neha Bajpayee, who was known as Shabana made her Bollywood debut opposite Bobby Deol in ‘Kareeb’. After getting married to Manoj in 2006, Neha maintained a low profile.
Paresh Rawal has been approached to play the role of Sunil Dutt. Anushka Sharma was also roped in to play a journalist while Sonam Kapoor has been signed to play Sanjay Dutt’s love interest. The titular role of Sanjay will be played by Ranbir Kapoor.
Earlier, there were reports that Sanjay Dutt is not too pleased with Ranbir playing him in the biopic by Rajkumar Hirani.
Munna Bhai actor went on to say, “I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? You are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don’t know how they cast you.” He continued, “You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can’t be doing films like Barfi!. You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman and Ajay would have been around for so many years if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important.”
Earlier, Sanjay Dutt had said in an interview that he has not given any advice to Ranbir for essaying him in the film, “There is no training or tips that I have given to Ranbir. I am not giving him any training for the film. Raju is there. So, he will take care of everything properly.”
