‘Neerja’ flies high, earns 12.30 crore in two days


Released on Friday, Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Neerja’ took the box-office by storm. The film has done a fantantic opening day business of Rs 5 crore and collects Rs 7.60 crore at the box office on day two and summing the two days collection, ‘Neerja’ earns an impressive total of Rs 12.30 crore.

The story line is strong, Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi delivered a stupendous performance and above all strong word of mouth did a wondrous job for ‘Neerja’. Made on a small budget of 20 crore (Rs 13 crore main budget plus 7 crore promotions), ‘Neerja’ almost collected the amount spend on production. 

Sunday being a holiday, the film will see more growth. The weekend collection is speculated to collect another 9-10 crore on Sunday.

Neerja’ is the courageous story of a 23 year old girl - an air hostess - who lost her life while saving passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 on 5th September 1986.

Produced by fox star studios, Atul Kasbekar and Shanti Shivram Mani and directed by Ram Madhvani, ‘Neerja’ stars Sonam Kapoor and Shabana azmi in the lead roles. The movie also marks the debut of Shekhar Ravijani (Vishal-Shekhar fame) and Yogendra Tiku in the supporting roles.
