Nawazuddin’s wife files counter-FIR against complainant, others

Hours after the Versova Police booked Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for allegedly assaulting a woman on Sunday, the actor’s wife Aliyah lodged a counter FIR against five people for manhandling her. The ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ actor recorded his statement with the police on Monday.

According to the actor’s wife, five persons, including three women, had barged into Nawazuddin’s office to give him a notice related to parking issues and demanded to meet him. While Nawaz was in the washroom they manhandled her and left.

A case of rioting, threatening and molestation has been filed against the five persons, police said. The 24-year-old Heena Shaikh who lodged a complaint against the actor and her grandmother, who is the chairman of the society are named in the counter FIR.

Nawaz has been embroiled in a dispute with his fellow residents over parking in his society premises.  On Sunday, Heena alleged in her complaint that the actor had pushed her during an argument, thereby outraged her modesty.

According to her FIR, the society had issued a notice to him over parking his vehicle in a space meant for two wheelers. On Sunday afternoon, the complainant allegedly saw the actor’s personal security guards forbidding a building resident from parking his two-wheeler in a space that he was allegedly using without permission, and the complainant took photos of the incident. Shortly thereafter, the actor is alleged to have manhandled the woman in the building premises.

Nawaz denied the assault allegations against him and said that he did not even know the complainant.

"I have come to know that there is a girl named Heena Sheikh who has put this assault allegation on me. Even I'm not aware who she is or if she stays in the society or not, or where she stays. It is a false allegation that has been put on me" he told reporters outside the Versova police station on Monday.

He also denied receiving any notice from police or that he has visited the police station for bail. "The police didn't summon us, but being a responsible citizen, I came here along with my lawyer and recorded my statement about how false the allegation is. And we have stated what the actual incident was," he added.
