Nandita Das confirms split with husband Subodh Maskara


In the first break-up of the year, actress Nandita Das and her husband Subodh Maskara have decided to end their seven years of marriage. The critically acclaimed actress confirmed the split in an interview to DNA.

Nandita and Subodh have six-year-old son Vihaan and he is the couple’s top priority, the 46-year-old actress said.

"Yes, it is true. Subodh and I have decided to separate. Thankfully, it is very amicable. Our son is our foremost priority and as parents of a delightful and sensitive child we request that his and our privacy be respected. There's nothing to hide and there's nothing more to be said," Nandita said. She added, “Separation is never easy, more so if you have a child. For us, our son is our main concern and we are committed to ensuring his well-being.”

Reports of the couple’s marriage hitting a rocky patch surface in June last year. It was reported that the couple was headed for separation, but Subodh had then dismissed the reports.

“Nandita and I are still living together in the same house (near Haji Ali). In fact, we were planning to go to France on a holiday with our son. Unfortunately, my father passed away 3 days ago,” Subodh had told SpotboyE when they contacted him.

Nandita tied the knot with Subodh, a Mumbai-based industrialist, in January 2010. The couple was blessed with their son Vihaan the same year. The actress was previously married to Saumya Sen from 2002 to 2007.

Nandita is known for her performances in ‘Fire’, ‘1947 Earth’, ‘Rockford’ and others. She made her directorial debut with 2008 film ‘Firaaq’, and is currently working on her next directorial ‘Manto’, based on the life of Pakistani writer Saadat Hasan Manto.
