‘Naagin’ actress Mouni Roy to debut with Akshay Kumar in ‘Gold’?


Recently there were reports that Salman Khan was planning to launch popular television actress Mouni Roy in Bollywood, but latest reports suggest that Mouni will make her debut opposite Akshay Kumar.

Salman is known for shaping up the career of many actress, and decided to launch Mouni in one of his forthcoming home productions as he has seen a lot of "untapped potential" in her. The duo got to know each other when the TV actress visited his show ‘Bigg Boss’.

The ‘Naagin’ actress has already appeared in a special item song in Anubhav Sinha’s 2016 film ‘Tum Bin II’, a sequel to his own romantic drama ‘Tum Bin’ which released in 2001.

According to latest reports, Akshay Kumar will introduce Mouni in his upcoming film ‘Gold’. An official announcement in this regard hasn’t been made yet though. Mouni is famous for playing the protagonist Shivanya and Shivangi in two seasons of the supernatural series ‘Naagin’.

To be directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritish Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment, ‘Gold’ tells the story of India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at the 14th Olympiad in London. Though it was the fourth consecutive win at Olympics, it was the first time for independent India in 1948.

‘Gold’ is touted to be a sports biopic on the life of field Hockey player Balbir Singh, the hero of the gold winning teams, not just in 1948 but also in 1952 and 1956 Olympics. Akshay will be essaying the role of the hockey legend.  

Akshay shared the first look poster of the movie in October last year. ‘Gold’ is scheduled for an Independence Day release in 2018.
