Munnabhai goes International

Munnabhai MBBSNow this is a record of sorts! While other Hindi filmmakers are busy remaking Hollywood and South Indian film, this is one film that is going the other way round and has become a trendsetter. We are talking of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Munnabhai Mbbs - the superhit comedy of 2003.
It's now a known fact that Gemini Film Circuit (GFC), the production house of South India, has bought the...
...rights of the film and is remaking it in Telegu and Tamil versions with superstars of the respective territories. The Telegu version titled Shankardada MBBS stars Chiranjeevi while the Tamil version titled Vasoolraja MBBS stars Kamal Hassan. Work will soon start on the Kannada version titled Uppidada MBBS starring Kannada star Upendra. Talks are also on for a Malayalam version to star Mohan Lal and even a Bengali version.

And that's not all. The appeal of Munnabhai is not just restricted to the national audience. Chopra is also in negotiations with Twentieth Century Fox and it appears as if very soon he will strike a deal for the international version of Munnabhai. Wonder what this English version would be called. Any suggestions?
