Momma’s Darlings of Bollywood
Almost every Bollywood star has a doting mother who has played an important part in shaping their kids’ career at some point of time. They are the source of courage and humility but can be their best critic too if need be. Here is a feature on some of the most influential mothers of Bollywood.
John Abraham:
He
never falls short of praises for his mum and credits all his achievements to
her. John claims that he inherited his sporting spirit and sense of judgment
from her and also his philanthropic nature. Although he doesn’t live with her
anymore but he makes it a point to visit her at least once a week no matter how
busy he is.
Ranbir
Kapoor:
Everybody knows that Ranbir Kapoor has one woman constant in
his life and that is his mother. He loves her more than anything in the world.
He says she has been the biggest support to him when he decided to opt for a
career in acting. The media rumors that they are so close that Neetu Singh
actually gives him advice and opinions regarding his dates. That’s pretty cool
huh?
Kareena
and Karishma:
While their father Randhir Kapoor was completely averse to
the fact that his daughters should join the film industry; their mother Babita
did her level best to help her daughters make their mark in Bollywood. Babita
raised her two daughters independently and worked hard to push their career up
high. Her efforts were aimed at grabbing the story centric roles for her
daughters and for this she had earned a bad name in Bollywood. But
nevertheless, she remains instrumental in her daughters’ decisions even after
they have become mega stars.
Esha
Deol:
Her mother is Bollywood’s dream girl Hema Malini who like
Babita worked hard to grab roles for her daughter. Hema Malini also made sure
that Esha mastered the art of classical dance so that Bollywood dances would
become a cake walk for her.
Abhishek
Bachchan:
He credits his mother Jaya
Bacchan for molding him into the kind of person he is now. His gentleness and
down to earth attitude is all a gift from his mother genetically. He also
attributes his successful married life to his mother who taught him the value
of togetherness in a family.
Anushka
Sharma:
A very cute story is involved with Anushka Sharma bagging
the role of Tani in the Yash Raj movie
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Anushka revealed in an interview that her mother Ashima Sharma had kept a wish written inside a Feng Shui Tortoise saying that her daughter
should be able to make her debut in a YRF film. Her mother’s honest prayers got
answered and Anushka was cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her dream debut.
Anushka thus, accredits her success to her mother who always wished the best for her.
Kajol:
Kajol is the daughter of Tanuja and niece of actress Nutan
and granddaughter of Shobhana Samarth. That’s a really impressive lineage
considering the Hindi film Industry. Kajol’s mother had been influential too
when it came to bagging her debut role. Even now Kajol is very much attached to
her mom and they can be seen together during the Durga Puja time and other
public events.
Salman:
He says he will get married the day he finds a girl who is
an epitome of his mother. That may be the reason why he is 40+ and still
single. He is like an over grown baby who still craves for his mom when he is
hungry, upset or needs a support. He still lives with his mother and adores her
cooking skills. He says he is incomplete without her in his life.
