MNS threatens to ban Salman Khan’s films for backing Pak actors

Amidst the controversy surrounding the ban on Pakistani artistes working in India, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday took a dig on actor Salman Khan for supporting Pakistani actors in Bollywood films. He asked Salman to go and work there.

"I think Salman should go to Pakistan and get a work permit there. Out jawans are dying on the border and all he is worried about is song and dance," Raj Thackeray said at a press conferance.

He also threatened to ban Salman’s movies if he continued supporting artistes from across the border. The MNS has already threatened to prevent the release of Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’, both of which feature Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan respectively.

"Jawans are fighting for us at borders. What'll happen if they decide to put down their weapons? Who'll guard the borders? Salman Khan? Bollywood? These artists (Salman Khan) should realise that nation comes first. Otherwise we will have to ban their movies too," said the MNS chief.

Further attacking the ‘Sultan’ actor, Raj Thackeray said that when Tamil Nadu and Karnataka can stand up for the Cauvery water issue, why can't the actors stand for the country.

"It is nothing but business to them. Are we short of artistes? They say art doesn't have boundary. When Tamil Nadu and Karnataka protested over Cauvery water, Tamil artistes came on the road including Rajnikanth. When they can stand for the rights of their states, why can't these artists stand for the country?" he added.

Earlier, at an event in Delhi on Friday, Salman had there should be a distinction between Pakistani actors and terrorists from that country. "They are artistes, not terrorists. They come here on visa, and who gives them that visa? Our government grants them visas. Art and terrorism should not be mixed," he had said.

The actor’s statement also invited the backlash of Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande who said that Salman too should migrate to Pakistan if he has so much love for the Pakistani actors.
