MNS threatens singer Asha Bhosle

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is all set to judge another musical show ‘Sur Kshetra’ on colors channel. She will share the platform with singers of Pakistan like Abida Parveen, Runa Laila, Atif Aslam. Himesh Reshmmiya will also be on the judges panel. Asha Bhosle’s participation on the show did not go well with the MNS and they threaten to boycott the musical show.

Members of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena are against the Indian singers sharing the same stage with Pakistani singers. MNS has sent a letter to the singer where they have requested Asha Bhosle not to participate in the show as there are not one or two but three Pakistani singers.

Reasoning their outrage, president Ameya Khopkar said, "They (Pakistanis) talk of art, but they forgot everything when they banned Ek Tha Tiger in their country. Our artistes are being discriminated against."

"When Pakistan is inflicting injuries on us, why should we entertain Pakistani artistes?" he said, adding, "We have also asked Colors to not invite Pakistani singers, and warned the channel of serious consequences if it airs the programme with them."

Asha Bhosle in her reply said that she is a singer and she only understand the language of music and music has nothing to do with politics.

"I don't like politics... I don't understand it. I love Raj Thackeray irrespective of what he thinks of me. I love Maharashtra and I am a Maharashtrian," the veteran singer said at a press conference, held in connection with the show.

Bhonsle even spoke in Marathi during the conference.

"I am a Maharashtrian. I believe in the motto athithi devo bhava (the guest is God). Without naming anyone, all I would say is Jai Maharashtra," she said.
