Mid day publishes apology on Shahid Kareena controversy?

Shahid Kapur and Kareena KapoorAn update on Kareena Shahid pictures controversy is that Mid-day has published a letter in Saturday’s edition as an apology to the couple but Editor-in-Chief of Mid Day Akar Patel maintains that the letter published is nothing near an apology. Patel says that this letter has been mistaken by the readers as an apology and explains, “It is certainly not
an apology. We have merely responded to the Supreme Court's observations on the matter and maintain that the way the story was highlighted by television channels was certainly not our intention. This however, does not amount to an apology and we stick to our stand that the video footage is authentic.”

Even though, the duo insisted that the pictures were fake and have been morphed, Mid Day declined to take back their story. The letter was titled ''Mid day on Kareena story'', and appeared under Patel's own byline: "The pictures we carried of Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur in Mid Day on Wednesday have become the biggest story in all media over the past few days. Our intention was simply to show two young celebrities in love, unconcerned about their very public display of affection. The subsequent media storm has raised questions about the morality and ''decency'' of the two individuals featured. We never intended for that to happen and regret any anguish Kareena and Shahid may have undergone as a result of this.”

He also states, “Mid Day stands firmly behind the authenticity of the video footage and our right as a newspaper to carry coverage of public persons.”
